Land of the Brokenhearted

Just So You Know: The title track from our latest album

Just Like Johnny Cash

We are huge Johnny Cash fans.  We were saddened when he passed.  What do you do with grief?  “Take a sad song and make it better”.  So I grabbed a guitar,  Bob got behind the drums and we locked into a groove.  The words just came spilling out.

“If Johnny Cash ain’t in heaven I don’t want to know.  If Johnny Cash ain’t in heaven the devil’s in control.  If Johnny Cash ain’t in heaven I don’t want to go.”

Mr. Cash had recorded a song by our good friend Jude Johnstone.  It was the title track for his album “Unchained”.    It’s a great song. After our initial blast of inspiration passed we passed our song  on to Jude for some help. We are pleased with the results.

“I have lived a life of sin Just like Johnny Cash.  I have let the light stream in Just like Johnny Cash. I have been both kinds of men Just like Johnny Cash.”

Silver Lake

It was time for a change of scenery. Living in a sleepy so cal beach town had lost it’s charm.  Where to?  That was the big question.  It took a while for an answer to come.  So I followed the yellow brick road.  I was not sure where it was leading. Along the way, I questioned my courage, wondered if I had a brain and almost lost heart.

Fear not.  This story has a happy ending.

There’s no place like home.

Silver Lake!

Table for One: Live Performance at Kulak’s Woodshed

We got invited to open up for Severin Browne at a place called Kulak’s Woodshed.  Kulak’s is kind of a cross between Pee Wee’s playhouse and a Tim Burton movie.  There was a couple lying on a king sized bed and a dog was roaming around.  We had the great pleasure of having  Dana Greene on piano and Jimmy Avakian on percussion.

It turned out to be a real special gig.  If only someone had taped it.

Hey!  Whaddya know!
